Kimpton Fitzroy - a luxury wedding in the heart of London

Kimpton Fitzroy (that used to be called the Russell Hotel) is a 19th century hotel in London’s gorgeous Bloomsbury neighbourhood. Bloomsbury is of course famous for being a home to Virginia Woolf and her most creative clique and Kimpton Fitzroy aims to bring back the decadent buzz into Bloomsbury streets once more.

Stepping into Kimpton Fitzroy is like stepping into the early 20th century creative, jazz-filled, timeless yet somehow modern vibe.    Its most lavish suites boast four-poster beds and freestanding baths. They remain faithful to Mr Fitzroy Doll’s original vision that all rooms should be somewhere to host a party as well as a meeting or dinner – a philosophy that continues throughout the hotel. The hotel’s amazing cocktail bar, Fitz’s – replete with dramatic black walls and a giant mirror ball – it takes you back in time and makes you forget the world outside. “When you go to a hotel bar you can be anyone you want to be, so there is a feeling of being a bit more risqué and doing things you wouldn’t normally do,” says Mr Robbie Bargh, whose concept for Fitz’s is inspired by the jazz age. “What I loved about the Bloomsbury Set is that they didn’t conform and were a bit odd; they took off their corsets and threw them out the window. I’d like to be able to attract free spirits here – interesting, wild things who are a little bit different.”

Karen and JS chose the ballroom for the stunning ceremony and reception, including a boyband serenade, white trees lining the aisle and a lot, a lot of candles. But let’s start from the morning.. Karen got ready in one of the gorgeous rooms, with her bridesmaids and a peaceful atmosphere of calm before the storm (or rather - before the party!)
