Lake Como - destination wedding in Italy
I just came back from Lake Como in Italy, where I photographed Emma and Kobie’s destination wedding. And OMG, I don’t even know where to start. Guys, it’s insanely stunning there! Villa Pizzo is a gorgeous, historic venue (dating back to 1345, as far as I remember), nestled among the Alps, on the side of the Lake Como. It has all the Italian chic and beauty - the architecture is just to die for. The gardens! The ancient jetty (yes, you can actually go on the lake straight from the villa)
I always thought that the Amalfi Coast is the quintessential ‘romantic Italy’, but please - move over Amalfi! Lago di Como is here! It’s really so romantic, but in a chic and ancient way. Because I was there at the end of September, so a bit outside of the touristic season, everything was a bit sleepy and slow (in a good, poetic way). Warm sun falling onto the Alps, reflecting in the calm waters of the lake. Quiet.
The smell of coffee (ah, Italian coffee!), the sound of church bells, the views. It really is the best destination to get married. Enough talking, let’s have a look. And then I’ll write a few more words.
The photo above was taken in another Villa, where I took the Emma and Kobie for some couple shots. It’s Villa Monastero, that's also sits on the lake site and features amazing ancient gardens, complete with sculptures, climbing roses and of course - a view of Lake Como. Emma is wearing a stunning Kyha gown and her bridal bouquet is from Wizz and Wild. I don’t think you could ever imagine a more luxurious, elegant wedding destination than Lake Como! Honestly, I dare you - send me a better one and I’m on the plane there tomorrow :-)
Shall we chat a little bit of organising a destination wedding? First - pros and cons.
Pros of an Italian destination wedding: the weather is basically guaranteed. The light is so perfect, your wedding photographer will not stop smiling (I know what I’m talking about, the light in Italy makes me so happy! And believe me - there is no good photography without a good light). The venues are gorgeous and you can have your wedding breakfast outside. Al fresco wedding dinning? Yes, please.
Cons. Are there any? I don’t think so.
There’s a lot of photographers to choose from in Lake Como, but if you want something a bit different - contact me here to have a little chat. I use my fashion and fine art experience (I used to be a painter) to give my couples photos with a unique editorial flare, while still documenting their day without too much posing or choreographing. I’m very relaxed and I like to make my couples relaxed too. It’s your day guys, first and foremost - you should enjoy it! And let me do the rest :-)
As a destination wedding photographer, I’m there for you with limitless time really, I always arrive at least a day before and never, ever go straight to the airport after your wedding. Photographing a wedding abroad (and especially in Italy, ah!), I feel soooo inspired that I literally never put my camera down. Want to see some details I photographed in Villa Pizzo?
So - would you agree that Villa Pizzo is the best destination wedding location in Lake Como? I mean - it’s hard to argue with that, seeing all the photos, right? Just be careful driving there, kids, it’s crazy! Super super skinny mountain roads (picturesque though!) Really, if you’re looking for a luxury, mega elegant lakeside location for your wedding in Lake Como - villa Pizzo is your venue. It has everything - beautiful gardens, access tot he lake, so you can go for a little boat trip anytime you want. The rooms are stunning, with this hard to imitate timeless elegance. Your guests will never forget it, believe me!
If there ever was a contest “Best destination wedding venue inLake Como”, Villa Pizzo would win one hundred percent! Champagne tower in the warm sunset, first dance in the garden, overlooking the lake. What’s more to ask?
