Why choose Greece as your wedding destination?
I love Greece, I’ve always loved it - the warmth of the sun and the people there is absolutely unprecedented. I even lived in Athens for a year - what an adventure, Athens is such a vibe, with it’s amazing cafes and restaurants, the art, the Acropolis. the vintage markets. Of course, there are islands - some of them are very popular destinations for weddings - Santorini, for example, is quite an iconic destination, but I have to warn you - as stunning as it is, it’s also very popular and tend to be crowed during peak season (I’ve heard about newly married couples queuing with their photographers for the best sunset spot on the island)
Before Sophie contacted me, I haven’t heard of Costa Navarino, a gorgeous, luxurious and sustainable Greek destination on a main land (you fly to Kalamata)
Costa Navarino - a luxiourus and environmentally unspoiled wedding destination.
Costa Navarino is located in Messinia in the southwest Peloponnese, in one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Mediterranean. What you can find there is not only the beauty of nature, but also a remarkable cultural heritage spanning 4,500 years.
Costa Navarino is currently home to four 5-star premium resorts, Mandarin Oriental Costa Navarino, W Costa Navarino, The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort and The Westin Resort Costa Navarino, three spa centres, four signature 18-hole golf courses, over 40 dining venues, a wide range of sports, outdoor and cultural activities, plus an array of 5-star services. The destination is enriched by Navarino Agora, a curated marketplace and incubator of art and culture that combines shopping, dining and entertainment with cultural happenings. Sophie and James chose W Costa Navarino for their wedding reception and the ceremony took place on the grounds of the magnificent Nikostro in Pylos, on the steps of the Church of Metamorphosis, overlooking the sea. I’ve never seen a more gorgeous ceremony location.

Sophie and James’ celebrations started on Thursday, as they organised a proper wedding weekend for their guests - a rehearsal dinner on Thursday, a welcome party on Friday, a wedding day on Saturday and a pool party on Sunday. What a fest it was!!
The reception on Saturday was held at the W Costa Navarino roof terrace and with the sunset the guests moved to the tables prepared on the beach. Does it sound like an absolute dream? That’s because it was.. The food was insane and so were the florals and the cocktails and the gentle night sea breeze.
