A Fashion-Forward London wedding of MEl and Andrew

Mel - a fashion icon bride

Mel and Andrew, two artists with a beautiful fashion sense, recently tied the knot in an intimate wedding that I unofficially added to my “top 10 favourite weddings ever”. The ceremony, which took place at Islington Town Hall, was nothing short of a masterpiece, marked by a guest’s poetry reading and countless bursts of laughter and the tears of joy, flowing freely on both Mel and Andrew’s cheeks.

But what stole the spotlight on this memorable day was Mel's choice of a wedding gown — a jaw-dropping Molly Goddard dress that left everyone in awe. The iconic dress reflected both Mel's individual style and the couple's shared love for pushing boundaries of tradition. Molly Goddard's creations are known for their voluminous and playful designs, and Mel's choice was perfect blend of contemporary elegance and avant-garde fashion. Side note - this iconic dress flowed beautifully on Mel’s baby bump :-)

an intimate ceremony at Islington Town Hall

One of my favourite London wedding venues - the iconic Islington Town Hall served (as per usual) as the ideal backdrop for the couple's intimate ceremony, allowing Mel and Andrew's unique personalities to shine. The ceremony was an intimate affair, attended by close friends and family, creating an atmosphere of warmth and love (and laughter!) that enveloped the couple as they exchanged vows.

I always love it, when couples infuse their wedding with their personalities. A poetry reading during the ceremony was beyond beautiful - the carefully selected verses resonated with the couple's journey, creating an emotional and reflective ambiance that left no cheek dry.

I photograph a lot of weddings at my local Islington Town Hall and I’m always surprised by the warm welcome and super friendly registrars - it was no different this time. We were also lucky to have rain-free 5 minutes needed for the confetti shot :-)

After the ceremony, the celebration continued at the couple's favourite London restaurant, where we walked with the London drizzle adding some poetry to the the photos. Cocktails and dinner were served in a space that perfectly mirrored Mel and Andrew's eclectic tastes, as well as their love story - this is the restaurant where the couple had endless lunches while being engaged. It was the perfect setting for the newlyweds to share their first meal as a married couple.

Mel and Andrew's wedding was a testament to their unique approach to life and love, proving that weddings can be a canvas for self-expression and creativity. This fashion-forward celebration not only united two (three! let’s not forget about Mel’s bump) souls in love but also showcased the power of embracing individuality in the together journey.
